Course Description

An overview of the Old Testament, including history and interpretation.  Carefully examination of each book, while gaining an understanding of Scripture and how God impacts our lives.

A comprehensive survey of the stories and content of the books contain in the New Testament, it will cover the culture, history and geography of the early church.

Course Objectives

  • Basic understanding of the contents and authorship of the books contain in the Old and New Testament
  • Exposition of the various books and the relevancy to the church today
  • General understanding of the person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ

Course Methods

  • Student Manuals, lectures, class participation, class presentations, and practicum will be required.
  • At the end of the course, students will have acquired a fundamental knowledge the Old and New Testaments, with a better understand of God and his redemptive work thought history.
  • Student should also gain a passion for reading and studying the Scripture while inspiring others to do so.
  • Students will be asked to evaluate the lecture at the end of semester.

  • Week One: Why Study the Old Testament? & Introduction to the Old Testament
  • Week Two: Genesis, Exodus and Leviticus
  • Week Three: Numbers and Deuteronomy
  • Week Four: Joshua, Judges and Ruth
  • Week Five: I & II Samuel, Kings and Chronicles
  • Week Six: Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther
  • Week Seven: Wisdom Literature
  • Week Eight: Isaiah, Jeremiah and Lamentations
  • Week Nine: Ezekiel and Daniel
  • Week Ten: Minor Prophets, Hosea-Micah and Minor Prophets, Nahum-Malachi
  • Week Eleven: Revision and pop quiz
  • Week Twelve: Students’ presentations (if applicable)
  • Week thirteen: exam and term paper
